This Thin Place
August 5th, 2016
I have met God here
I have encountered God
And then doubted God's existence
Perhaps that is the common quality
Of all thin places
Those places where
The energy of two worlds
Vibrate in resonance
Shimmering just beyond each other
Like water's hologram
On hot sand
Or the soft glimmering
We think we see floating
Across the wet meadow at night
And perhaps it is our common experience
That causes us to believe
Then doubt what we have seen
And perhaps that is the value
The wrestling
The faith
The doubt
And the dance with phantoms
We could swear we have held
In our very arms
Had we not then
Soon after
Believed was just a dream
